As the pandemic continues,I also experienced some discomfort & got tested for Covid on 2nd September 2020; Fingers were crossed till Arogya Setu flashed red alert on 3 Sep declaring me +ve; Obviously, rest of the actions were attributed to the battle drill of qurantine protocol to isolate myself as we entire family is staying under one roof including my 82 years plus in Laws; The concern for the virus was so intense that once the report came, the expression, reaction & response in whole family was suddenly changed;we did the needful & I had 1st isolated night in quarantine in my life;Infact, the whole humanity is affected fm this virus commonly but the isolation attached with this disease is uncommon from what I heard or experienced in my life;In the year 1993,when I was posted in Jodhpur,my whole family had suffered chicken pox in one go leaving me lone healthy man to take care of wife, son, daughter in mid of severity of fever & worst form of chicken pox;in that situation also, there was some sort of isolation but it didn't deter to be in proximity with family; In 2003,when I was undergoing long hospitalisation due to bullets injuries, there was no feel of isolation except the days of ICU or critical surgeries; family, friends & well-wishers used to visit to boost the morale & extend their wishes for early recovery; But COVID-19 has gave birth to a new definition of isolation which is probably worse than rigorous jail; in Jail, the inmates are allowed limited freedom & enjoy bonehomie as per jail manual without social distancing;the corona virus is highly dreaded due to its potential to spread with contact; therefore, the isolation of corona+ve patient starts from disassociation/social distancing of patient from his own most close family members & this is the element which makes this virus entirely different from others & it happens all of sudden; the shock effect is greater than the disease itself; we are social animals;like air, water, food, we need social proximity to live haply life & this virus takes away this very happiness at its outset- leave life apart; so there is a great need for the near & dears to break the sense of isolation of qurantined person & except phisical distancing, let there be the emotional proximity & symbolic presence all the time to take the patient out of this problem.
